Local nonprofit gets those with disabilities to enjoy outdoors

Daring Adventures is a non-profit that helps those with disabilities enjoy the outdoors. Last year, valley firefighters helped a 14-year-old named Anthony hike down the Grand Canyon in a special wheelchair.

Outdoors report: Mar. 19

Guide James Plaag of Silver King Adventures reported scattered catches of trout and redfish around daylight and dark on Slammin' Chicken Bass Assassins. Guide Butch Terpe reported a good black bass bite to five pounds on lizards, Senkos and jigs. Water temps were running 72 degrees in some coves.

Outdoors report: March 14

Guide James Plaag of Silver King Adventures reported trout to 7.8 pounds on Slammin' Chicken Bass Assassins and pearl Corkies. Guide Michael Rolf reported steady catches of trout and scattered redfish while drifting with live shrimp. White bass action has been good, though recent rains have muddied rivers and creeks and stalled action a bit.

Minneapolis, St. Paul team up with feds to get kids into the outdoors

More Twin Cities kids will get a chance to explore the outdoors and learn about the national park system this summer, as Minneapolis and St. Paul join a short list of cities in a new program with the federal agency that manages public land.
